The history of Bancamérica in the Dominican financial market began in 1983 when it was established as a financial company under the corporate name of Promociones e Inversiones. Later, in the year 2000, it received the authorization to operate as Banco de Desarrollo Proinsa, S.A.

During 2004, the monetary authorities approved the conversion and subsequent launching as Banco de Ahorro y Crédito de Las Américas, S.A. (Bancamérica) In view of its conversion to a multiple bank, during this period, they began a process of organizational and corporate transformation, implementing better international banking practices at the level of corporate governance, risk, audit and compliance, which led it to start its operations as a multiple bank successfully in May 2010.

Since then Bancamérica has been consolidating in the Dominican financial market as a bank oriented to provide financial solutions tailored to its customers, offering through a personalized service, innovative financial products that meet the needs of its customers.
