Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata, also known as La Novia del Atlántico (the Bride of the Atlantic) is home to more than 100 kilometers of pristine beaches, is considered the second-most visited city in the Dominican Republic after Santo Domingo. As it was planned to be a tourist destination, you’ll find a large concentration of all-inclusive beachfront resorts to choose from.  

It is ideal for jazz and salsa lovers, as Puerto Plata has a weeklong cultural festival in June that features merengue, blues, jazz, and folk concerts at San Felipe Fort. You’ll also see troupes from Santo Domingo perform traditional dances to African music and salsa.
